The Salk Guidance and Counseling Department promoted College Awareness Day on Thursday, May 31st. Teachers and staff wore shirts, sweatshirts and hats from the college or university that they attended in an effort expose our middle schoolers to life beyond high school. Counselors visited with 8th grade students during their Foreign Language classes to start the college conversation and show students how high school courses and electives can eventually lead us to a college program that interests us and then hopefully a career. Students were encouraged to get involved in extracurricular activities and work hard throughout high school so that they are well-rounded students when the time comes to apply for college. Teachers, support staff, administrators, and staff shared stories with students about their college experience and how they chose to attend the school they attended. It was a fun day and we look forward to doing it again next year!
