Welcome back Salk students! There is no time like the present to develop or enhance your academic skills! Middle school is a great place to learn good organizational and study skills. You will definitely need these skills at Salk and beyond. The Salk Counseling Department is here to help if you would like to learn how to get organized or study more efficiently. A good place to start is our Study Skills page on this website!
We have the following resources:
Everyone here in the Salk Counseling Department cannot believe we are already in week #2 of the 4th quarter! The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and with that, so are FINAL EXAMS. As long as you study and make the most of the in-class final reviews and review packets, you will be prepared!
Many students are unsure about how to study so if you are not clear on what you need to do to prepare for a quiz, test, or final, you are not alone. The "Study Skills" tab on our website has many resources to guide you on how to study. Click on the tab and check it out! We have printable worksheets to make your own study guides for tests. We also have a printable weekly planner, to-do list, and a newsletter with study tips. There is a link to make your own vocabulary flashcards which you can use to quiz yourself online or print them out. Our Study Skills page also has suggestions on how to make the most of extra help along with a printable worksheet to organize your thoughts on what to ask about when you go to extra help. Lastly, we have information on the Salk Peer Tutoring Program if you would like to study with a 7th or 8th grade tutor.
Please use our resources and share with your friends! Your School Counselor is always available to go over study skills with you as well, so stop in the Guidance and Counseling Office during your lunch or work study to make an appointment!
