Peer Tutoring Club Name Change
The Peer Tutoring Club is transitioning to a new name that more accurately describes what we do- the Homework Helpers Club! This name change will hopefully better express the role of student tutors as study buddies and helpers for homework. We hope that the name change will also remove the “stigma” for kids that have a negative association with needing the help of a tutor. Everything remains the same just a change on the name!
Please encourage your children to stop by the green cafeteria any day after school for assistance with HW or studying. Each day we have 7-10 kind and motivated students ready to help, so stop by!
Career and College Awareness in the Library
In the spirit of College Awareness Month and our continued effort to promote college and career readiness at Salk, Mrs. Anderson set up an awesome interactive display in the library for students to explore and learn about various careers and degrees! Please encourage your students to go to the library and check out the books and resources we have displayed and explore the College/Career Awareness page of our counseling department website.
Scholastic’s website is filled with articles, worksheets, activities, and guides for supporting your K-8 child’s education. We recently added the following Scholastic articles to the website:
On the 6th Grade Transition page:
The Guide to 6th Grade: Review general curricula for 6th grade, including what to expect for each subject. Plus, discover at-home activities to support learning in the classroom.
On the Study Skills page:
PARENT GUIDE TO MAKING MATH FUN: Mix up your child's math routine with fun games, math-tastic printables, and apps perfect for math time fun.
Our website raffle was a success; we had many students and parents check out our website and sign up for our Edmodo or Remind! Congratulations to our 3 winners- all 6th graders!
